“Having Rembrandt’s in-home support right here is real peace of mind”

Dennis Peterson

“We wanted to move somewhere with no maintenance worries and looked at some other retirement places but Woodbridge was a standout. The bus was handy, people here were friendly, the price here was affordable, and there were no big exit fees. And we could bring our pets with us. So we put our name down.

It was important for us to be within easy walking distance of the Community Centre. We looked at 3 units and the 4th was ideal.

My wife has dementia so I needed a bit of help — with her care, with the home cleaning and with respite. The beauty of it is the Rembrandt office is at the Community Centre here, and they organise it all which gives us real peace of mind. We’re very happy living here.”

“You can join in as much as you like or do your own thing”

Norma Deacon

“We’d always lived locally and I came here to visit years before we moved in, for a friend’s 80th birthday party, and thought it was wonderful. You’ve got everything all here and it’s very convenient. It’s close to shops, you take the footbridge to coffee, and public transport works very well for people who don’t drive.

Our unit was gutted inside which was brilliant. I wanted hard floors throughout, good storage and easy doors, shutters on the front windows instead of curtains. Everything is very user-friendly for my arthritis.

My husband is a veggie man. Lawnmowing, pruning the roses, he has his fruit trees, the passionfruit is growing on the fences and all over in to the neighbours who have told us they don’t mind at all!

Here, you can join in as much as you like or you can do your own thing. I’m very social and have been to lots of the social activities. My husband is more quiet but he goes to ‘Odd Fellows’ which is good for him. A few weeks after we moved in, there was the Christmas party for our village. Everyone seemed to fit in. I helped out that first year and now I’m the organiser for them!

Dusty’s Bar is on twice a month. Very reasonable prices and it’s a great way to meet everybody.”

“Never even thought about anywhere else”

Frank Quinn

“We’d lived at our old place on Delfin Island for 40 years but the home was getting too big. Most of our neighbours had moved here, many of our bowls group moved here, and when the time was right, we moved here, too. Never even thought about anywhere else.

Woodbridge is very well designed with 6 different sites scattered amongst regular neighbourhoods, which is a good thing. It’s great to have neighbours of all different age groups and to still feel a part of the community.

The management team are very progressive. All the staff are fabulous and keep you up to date, with meetings once a quarter so we know what’s going on. We have so many friends with similar interests here, which is a really big bonus for us.”

“Facilities here are first class”

Ian Cameron

“We didn’t want the big garden any more, and when we first downsized from our 3 bedroom home, my wife wanted an apartment. We moved into one at West Lakes where we only had a balcony. But with tenants coming and going, there was just no sense of community there — so we were very happy when a unit came up here at Woodbridge. Now we have a garden again, but it’s just the right size for us.

Facilities here are first class, my wife loves the pool, there are happy hours and dinners, men’s cooking classes — there’s always something to do here.”

“We couldn’t sell our home quick enough”

Dusty & Christine Goodluck

“At the time of our decision to look around for a different style of living more suited to our requirements, we were made aware of Woodbridge. A relative had recently moved in and invited us to have a look at their unit. They also informed us of the criteria we would need to be eligible. The best way to describe our response was to say, ‘We couldn’t sell our home quick enough.’

We also met some of the staff who were exceptionally helpful, and we were made to feel at ease while not being pressured to look around at some of the villages. We found a sense of living at Woodbridge that reflected what we wanted in our style of living.”

“A good safe place for older people to feel supported”

Marilyn Osborn

“All the facilities to have a busy and full social life. Hall, pool, small library, great gardens and good safe place for older people to feel supported in their independent living. Houses are refurbished before each new owner moves in, each house has garage for one car and a small courtyard garden. Plenty of activities to join if wanted, a park nearby for grandchildren’s picnics. Close to West Lakes Shopping Centre and the beach and council library as well as the golf course and bus transport.”

“A relaxed and hassle-free lifestyle”

Alan & Suzanne Davidson

“We had only ever heard positive feedback regarding Woodbridge Retirement Village prior to our decision to downsize, and since our move into the village in 2018, we can most definitely confirm that. The staff are very approachable and friendly and happy to assist in any way possible. They provide regular newsletters that keep us up to date with all the relevant village news of the day. The units are beautifully presented with lovely rear courtyards.

Village life has offered us security, friendship, and contentment, but most of all a relaxed and hassle-free lifestyle, whether we wish just to sit back and relax or become actively involved. The choice is ours. Our Residents Committee do an amazing job organising various wonderful activities monthly, not to mention scheduled weekly activities that are always well attended. Village life provides a wonderful lifestyle which we can highly recommend. If you are thinking of downsizing, don’t hesitate, as you will be well rewarded.”

“Because it’s a not-for-profit, there are advantages”

Lionel Frost

“My wife and I moved here from our home at Henley South. Probably the best thing we ever did, we are very happy here.

I like the fact that it’s all inclusive. The maintenance fee covers council rates, water, emergency services, you just have your electricity, gas, phone and contents insurance.  Also there are no additional exit fees and get your money back within 120 days of returning your keys.

One of the big plusses is that it’s close to everything you need, including medical facilities, and it’s just 10 minutes from the golf club. The location is fabulous, it’s a lovely place to live.”

“My animals had to come with me”

Kathryn Rimmer

“I had heard about Woodbridge and thought to myself ‘that sounds like the type of place I’d like to go to.’ I did look at 3 other retirement villages but I felt like this was the one for me, so I got on the waitlist and kept checking in. It’s a safe place to live, I wanted to be with like-minded people my age and my very energetic rescue dog, Astra and my cat, Dragon had to come with me.

I brought lots of my plants from my old home and here I had the space to create my lovely new garden. With all the lovely gardens and peaceful surroundings here at Woodbridge, it’s beautiful to live here. Every day, I take Astra for a long walk around Delfin Island, sometimes for up to an hour. It’s such a friendly environment.

You have the community, lots of social activities and I’m so busy which is wonderful.”
